Man, what a day. The last backordered pushbutton arrived today. Went on a shopping spree trying to get everything I need for the project. HomeDepot, ACE Hardware and Radio Shack have been my stops for the day.

 

And so... the design has been finalized and I got to sit down and work on it.

 

For the box I decided to go for a small footprint. I guess the bigger the better but... since this is my first project small will do. Actually going for a small footprint has proved to be a challenge. Things worked very nicely on paper but not so much in reality. Everything fits very tightly and might end up relocating a button.  

 

In the end I worked a little bit on wiring the controller. I have to admit I suck at soldering. I busted 3 contacts and had to search for substitute soldering points.  Worse of all, in the mid of soldering I applied hot glue to the connections to secure them not realizing I haven't tested the controller yet.  From this point on anything can happen. I do hope for the best but... we'll see.  Damm me.

 

First ever attempt at making my own Arcade Style wireless Joystick controller for the 360.

 

Will I be able to finish it? Will it work? How will it turn out?

We all know how bad the D-pad on the 360 controller is for fighting games and 2D (retro) games in general. Surprisingly enough a year and a half after launch Microsoft has not yet released a decent arcade stick. (No, the Madcatz doesn't count you silly...) Something in the likes of the Street Fighter Anniversary Edition Stick that was released for the Original Xbox.

So, where am I going with this? Well, I just happen to have shipped my 360 for repair (dreaded ring of death) and with 3-4 weeks without gaming ahead of me, and a quasi dead controller... I've decided I'm gonna build my own Arcade Style Joystick. 

Have any of you ever hacked a 360 controller? Built your own Stick? Do you have any suggestions or tips that would streamline the process? Do you wanna share your projects? Would love to see. 

For my project I'm using Happ Competition Pushbuttons and Joystick, a custom built box and a wireless original 360 controller.

If you have any info on how to use illuminated pushbuttons with a hacked 360 controller please let me know!!!  I haven't been able to come up with a workaround myself.

I've been tracking and waiting for news on this game for a while and in waiting for the site to go live well, you know, April is here and the purported "Website coming March" is still there. So what's the deal?  As per Luc Bernard's own words "I must admit that I have been lazy, but I'm concentrating on the game"

 

Can we expect anything anytime soon? Very soon indeed, as we'll see some news released this month.
